Policy Administration Systems in China, 2006: Life & Pension Vendors
AbstractBeijing, China June 28, 2006
Celent provides detailed profiles and comparisons of six Policy Administration Systems in China.
Celent's latest installment in its series of reports on policy administration systems is the most comprehensive available study on China's life/health/annuity PAS options. "More than half of the reviewed systems are developed using modern technology, with a preponderance of Java-based solutions," says Wenli Yuan, a senior analyst in Celent's Asia research group and primary author of the report, . "Many offerings are now componentized, and there is widespread use of Web services and service-oriented architecture to ensure flexible solutions for modern-day problems."
This report is designed to help life/health/annuity insurers understand the Chinese mainland Chinese. It contains detailed profiles of six commercial lines policy administration systems and limited profiles of eight additional systems from market entrants.
The report uses Celent's ABCD Vendor View, which is a standard representation of a vendor marketplace designed to show at a glance the relative positions of each vendor in four categories: Advanced technology, Breadth of functionality, Customer base in the mainland China market, and Depth of client services in the mainland China market. Unlike a simple "four-quadrant" map, solutions in the upper right are not necessarily the best solutions-in an area as complex and idiosyncratic as policy administration, there is no one "best" for all cases. Insurers should consider which factors-breadth, technology, experience, and/or client service-are most important to them, and use the profiles and comparative tables in this report to generate their own shortlists. Only fully profiled vendors are included in the ABCD Vendor View, though limited profiles of eight additional vendors are provided.
The vendors with full profiles are: Computer Sciences Corporation (two products), Chinasoft Corporation, Eastpro, eBaoTech Corporation, and EDS-SOLCORP.
Market entrants with limited profiles include Bravura Solutions, PCCW Solutions, SunGard, Tata Consultancy Services, EDS-SOLCORP (RADIENCE), Mastek, NaviSys, and Shenzhen LongRise Science & Technology Corporation.
The report is 47 pages long and contains 34 tables and four figures. A table of contents is available here.
