Technology providers are approaching the small business market from all directions from customized retail solutions and simplified cash management solutions to standalone small business platforms.

Since the vast majority of small businesses are either self-employed individuals or companies with annual revenues of less than US$100,000, it makes sense for financial institutions to offer this sub-segment an enhanced retail solution, comments Meredith Outwater, author of the report. However, small businesses with significant revenues and more employees require a more advanced and targeted solution that treats them more like a small corporation. Banks would be wise to deploy a solution that can grow with these clients.

In addition to profiles and comparisons of each of the twelve technology providers, this 43-page report also examines the dilemma of defining the small business space, internal bank hurdles to deploying small business solutions, and the current vendor marketplace.
