Abstract

Boston, MA, USA Milan, Italy November 7, 2005

Responding to an evolving market environment, vendors in the asset management space will rethink their market strategy and positioning.

In a new report, " ,"Celent examines six leading asset management solutions in the European market and catalogues their efforts to provide front to back office functionalities.

"After a thorough evaluation of over 12 solutions in the European asset management space, just six of them met the criterion of providing front to back office support," states Isabella Fonseca, Celent analyst and co-author of the report. "There is no clear leader for all categories considered," given the distinctions between the various types of solutions analyzed," she adds.

The landscape for asset management systems is largely affected by the consolidation in the European private banking market. Large private and retail banks are acquiring smaller onshore private banks across Europe in order to gain a foothold in their respective markets. These developments will have implications for vendors of asset management systems.

"We expect additional cross-border mergers to occur in the coming years, and the impact of this market consolidation on technology vendors could prove to be significant," states Alois Pirker, Celent analyst and co-author of the report. "Those vendors that are able to offer a scalable platform, ideal for the integration of merging banks, have a chance to retain those contracts and to remain the solution of choice for these growing institutions."

This report examines the offerings of six vendors, including Avaloq Evolution AG, DST International, Odyssey Asset Management Systems, SAGE, SunGard Investment Systems, and TEMENOS. Celent痴 ABCD Vendor View is used to show at a glance the relative position of vendors in the following categories: Advanced technology, Breadth of functionality, Customer base (number of clients), and Depth of client services, as depicted below.

This report is 53 pages long and contains 17 figures and 22 tables. A table of contents is available online.
